Social media is a valuable tool to use in advertising. I will be using social media to promote my long-form article for medium.com. The social media sites I have chosen to use are LinkedIn, Instagram, and X.
The topic of my article is on the past and current state of archetypes in LGBTQ+ culture. My article is graphic heavy, as it will showcase visual examples of the archetypes. I will use a Carousel slideshow on both Instagram and LinkedIn but will change each slideshow for that website. The text accompanying the slideshow will change as well.
The slideshow will feature two illustrated examples of modern gay archetypes. This will attract the attention of the viewer, but not give them everything so they must still read the full article to see all the archetypes and read about them.
On Linked-In, I will post the illustrations with a short synopsis along with a link to the actual article. The interactive photos of the slideshow will be more engaging for the viewer than just a single photo. If the viewer is intrigued, then they will click onto the article. The synopsis will read:

Instagram also allows slideshows but will show you the slideshow before the description. This makes it easy to scroll past descriptions.
Users must direct the viewer’s attention to the description to provide details by having text within slideshows that will direct the viewer to the description. The description will read similarly to the Linked In synopsis:

To promote my article on Instagram, I will use the same slideshow as LinkedIn, but with an additional slide providing information about the article and directing the viewer to the post’s description. The description will have the same information, but also include a link to the article. I will also include relevant hashtags to help ensure that users will see the post.
Like the other social media websites, X also allows slideshows. However, X is a website where being concise is always best. Based on this, I plan to just post one promo image that shows both illustrations from the slideshow.
X has a 280-word character limit on posts for free users. So, there is not much space to give information about the article. Instead, the text along with the promo image will be a call to action to learn more about LGBTQ+ archetypes of the past and present. Like the prior two posts, the X post will have a link to the article and read:
